Up for auction is a Scarce, Original Signed Contract by Academy Award, Grammy Award and Tony Award-winning American lyricist, librettist and theater producer Oscar Hammerstein II (1895-1960) for the copyright renewal for his 1927 musical,
The New Moon

Basis for the 1930 and 1940 motion picture versions.
One page, dated February 28, 1955.
Signed in ink on the lower portion by Oscar Hammerstein II.
Typed on onionskin paper.
Nice condition with two holes on the upper portion (as previously housed in a notebook), two small holes on the left portion and small tear and some wear.
Also included in this auction is the sheet music from the production of The New Moon with music by Sigmund Romberg, and the lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and Frank Mandel.
Sheet music for one of the most famous songs from the production, “Softly, As In A Morning
Sunrise
”.
Very good condition with some wear and tearing to the spine.
Accompanied by a printed photograph of Hammerstein.
