    Description

    Walt Whitman [1819 1892]
    was
    an
American poet, essayist, humanist and journalist who was part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism, incorporating both views in his works. Whitman is among the most influential poets in the American canon, often called the ''father of free verse''. He was controversial in its time, particularly his poetry collection ''Leaves of Grass'', which was described as obscene for its overt sensuality. Listed for auction is a stunning display which contains the authentic autograph of Walt Whitman signed on a page. The autograph is signed ''Walt Whitman'' in black pen and the page measures 4.50 x 1.75 inches. The page has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition. Authenticity...…. The autograph has been authenticated by JSA Authentication and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity. The display is centered around a striking b/w photograph of Walt Whitman. Mounted below the photograph is the autograph as described above and mounted below is a professionally engraved metal plaque which reads as follows, Walt Whitman May 31, 1819 - March 26,
    1892,
Whitman is considered the father of free-verse poetry. But he was much more
    than
that. He introduced readers to previously forbidden topics like sexuality, the human body and its functions & incorporated unusual themes, such as debris, straw and leaves, into his work. The display itself is stunning and has been professionally assembled in acid free materials as follows, each item has been triple matted with
    an
ivory linen outer matte and accented with a gold and a brown inner matte. The display has been assembled in a quality heavy-weight ornate gold wood frame to the dimensions of 23.00 x 14.00 inches. It is a wonderful example of his autograph, authenticated, uncommon to obtain, beautifully framed and ready for display with your collection. Absolutely no disappointments plus we provide free shipping in the U.S
. We have listed a nice collection of political, aviation, military and astronaut autographs.
