  • Condition: The edges of the note are darkened & its bottom left corner is lightly creased. Two small newspaper cuttings - a portrait of the playwright & a 3-line bio - have been glued to the left of the printed address on the letterhead, probably by the recipient. The card is unevenly darkened. On the versos several pieces of tape adhere to the note & card where they have been removed from an album. Good.

    TYPED NOTE SIGNED BY PLAYWRIGHT, CRITIC AND FILM SCENARIST CHANNING POLLOCK TOGETHER WITH A CARD INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY HIM.
    New York: January 30th, 1933. Sixteen words typed on a 7-1/4 inch square sheet of his personalized letterhead with his name & address printed in raised lettering at the top. Signed

    . Mounted below the signature is a 3 inch high by 5 inch wide card inscribed and signed
    "To / Elinor Ann Schloss / with best wishes / Channing Pollock / 1933"

    Channing Pollock
    [1880-1946] was an American playwright, critic and writer of film scenarios. He began his career in 1896 as drama critic at The Washington Post and later worked at the Washington Times. He was the author of
    "The House Beautiful", "The Fool", "The Enemy"
    and many other successful Broadway productions. He also  wrote film scenarios, including
    "The Evil Thereof"
    [1916], and a memoir
    "The Footlights, Fore and Aft"
    [1911].
