Description
Judy Holliday
,
signed Playbill
for the Broadway first run production of
Bells are Ringing
in which she won the 1957 Tony Award to Best Actress in a Musical, 6.5 by 9 inches, in very good plus condition.
The playbill is also signed by fellow opening night cast actor Frank Aletter.
Both signatures are in blue ink and are a little shaky, probably due to the circumstances of getting signatures at the stage door.
Judy Holliday was one of the great American actresses who won both a Tony for
Bells Are Ringing
and an Academy Award for
Born Yesterday
.
Bells are Ringing
was written by Betty Comden and Adolph Green with music by Jule Styne.
It was directed by Jerome Robbins and choreographed by Robbins and Bob Fosse.
The musical opened on November 29, 1956 and closed on March 7, 1959.
As noted on the front cover by the lady who went to the play and got the autographs, she attended on February 21, 1959, just weeks before the first run closed.
