    Background Note:
    Yomie was my mother's uncle
    (my grandmother's brother)
    He was a dress designer
in the garment center of New York,
    and also designed costumes for
    New York City Broadway shows
(from the 1920s through the mid 1950s).
Mae West had observed the quality of his work
and requested that he design costumes
for her Broadway shows, including "Diamond Lil"
*Given to my mother in 1953,
placed within her photograph scrapbook for safe keeping
and this is where it remained... until today.
    "Rare, one-of-kind"
    BLACK & WHITE PHOTO

    -------------------------------------------------------
    "A Gracious Lady"
To show her appreciation to her costume designer,
Mae West asked that a photograph be taken of her on set
wearing a costume that Yomie had made personally for her
(and later, presented him with this photo)
